Basketball team was formed in 2001. Firstly it has a title - "Jackpot", then "Conti Group", since 2002 - "Conti". Our team is a champion of Russia among teams of Premiere league in year 2001/2002 and among teams of Supreme league in year 2002/2003. Basketball club "Conti" entered the dozen of the strongest clubs of our country in a draw of II-nd “Cup of Russia 2002/2003”.
The History of the team goes back to a basketball team of “Jackpot” veterans. The idea of its establishment belongs to the general director of "Conti Group" corporation Igor Gorbenko, who was engaged in boat racing, and now relies on sports as his hobby. Igor Gorbenko has won the world Championship on basketball among veterans being the member of “Conti” basketball team two years ago. He says that it was the brightest impression in whole his life. Right after such a victory he decided to create a professional club that would adequately present Saint Petersburg on the Russian and international sport arenas. Igor Gorbenko became the president of new club. In the first year of existence out team had only 3 defeats from the teams of Premiere league and has managed to enter Supreme league.

Alexander Nikolaevich Ponkrashov - the world champion (2001), the champion (2000) and the vice-champion (2002) of Europe among veterans, the master of sports continues to play as team member. In the past season he became the vice-president of the club.
Vasily Petrovich Sorokin is the director of club and the chief of a team, doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor. He took up the decision of organizational questions of the team.
Gennady Evgen'evich Shchetinin is a playing coach, master of sports of the international class. He headed the team. Having wide experience of playing for the best basketball teams of the country, G. Shchetinin, while playing for "Spartak" became the champion of the CIS (1991/1992), silver (1989/1990) and bronze (1987/1988) prize-winner of national championships. Completely having switched on coach's work and having the diploma of the trainer, G. Shchetinin supervised over the team in the majority of meetings within the championship in the Supreme league.
Jury Vasil'evich Horoshaev is a trainer of our team. He came to “Conti” having been working with the best teams of Kazakhstan and Great Novgorod. Among his pupils are members of Russian basketball team, vice-world champion Igor Grachev.
The trainer - adviser of club the famous Russian trainer Anatoly Iosifovich Shtejnbok - one of the most known and eminent trainers in our country. Sergey and Zahar Pashutin, Sergey Panov, Andrey Fetisov and Andrey Kirilenko acted on Olympic games in Sydney following his teaching techniques. They are graduates of school of the Olympic reserve №1 and played for some clubs supervised by Shtejnbok. A. Kirilenko, being absolutely young, under the direction of Anatoly Shtejnbok and Michael Gojhman while playing for Petersburg "Spartak" won "silver" in the championship of Russia among doublers. The youth and juvenile modular team supervised by Shtejnbok, repeatedly became prize-winners of the European Championships. Trainer-adviser of "Conti" has taught a lot of sportsmen how to throw ball into the basket. Among them are two Olympic champions, and eight World champions. His followers acted in all teams of the Russian Super league.
The doctor of the team is Vladimir Marzovich Nurulin. He had a big experience of practical work, before entering the team. Form 1999 till 2002 he worked in BC "Pulkovo".
The trainer on physical preparation of the club is Nurislam Nurimanovich Ganiev. He has an experience as the coach also. In the past he is the prize-winner of championships in heavy athletics.
